In my defence I was polarising and suggesting good content as opposed to bad content :) However I do agree with the theme of your response.

We create exceptional widget bait (sort of content) and as result enjoy lots of easy links as a result.

We also created a very useful (exceptional IMHO) keyword tool which immediately attracted a shed load of great links and came straight in with a healthy pr after the latest pr update, not bad for a domain registered about three months ago. Link effort virtually zero, 'content' creation, significant.

While I didn't ask about using linkbait for links (quite the contrary: to attract just the right target audience), you do seem to back up my attitude towards linkbait: it is the best of the web content that also attracts targeted audience to your site. It's not just links (though you seem to disagree with me here?), headlines, content or long tail traffic.

Thanks for the response, it did seem like the only purpose of linkbait was links from your post (possibly, because that's what I might've been thinking at the time of reading your guest post, since you didn't actually mention anything besides "linkbait gets links". Smart move :) )
