I’ve been using SU more recently, and I really like the way it connects bloggers to each other (I guess that’s the whole idea, but it seems more effective than other social sites). Congrats on all the fans, I’m one of them.

I think number of friends is partially a reflection on overall online audience size, but also quality and niche of the content you stumble, and how you present it.

I am not just a few shy of 500 friends now, with less than 1000 stumbles.

Having lots of friends doesn’t necessarily mean I have more influence

I also now promote my Stumbleupon feed in a number of other location, including Technorati, Gooruze and Mybloglog.

I’ve started to Stumble by keywords in search that interest me , in my case philosophy and psycholohy. I know you can select ‘groups’ to join, but this seems more flexible as you can drop in words that spring to mind and don’t quite fit the ‘group’. Giving a proper comment rather than ‘great stumbles’ seems to develop friendhips better too (no suprises there!) I agree, at first I didn’t ‘get’ stumble, now I always have delicious and technorati tabbed up with it, and sometimes Squidoo to capture good Stumbles. Whilst picture Stumbles show interestin stuff I’m getting a bit bored now with whacky surrealistic and fluffy cat images

I use it in a couple of ways. I have a lot of non-work interests like humor, cats etc and I get a lot of those when I Stumble so i find that relaxing. But I only add friends who have the same work interests as me – internet marketing, blogging, social media, seo etc and then what I also do is change my channel to ‘friends’ and stumble that. Doing that brings me all sorts of cool blog posts from people I hadn’t even heard of. Its a brilliant way of finding new information.

costa, it’s easy. You simply have to invest a lot of time into it. I guess an ebook could tell you the mechanics of the tool, but you really have to use it and adopt your own technique to suit your strategy.

One thing to do, is honestly answer the question of what you want out of it, is it all about traffic, making contacts, chatting up nubile college girls. All require different ways of use.

Perhaps that is what the e-book should be about, describing the different ways Stumbleupon can be used.

I will do my best here to give information out for free.

Frankly, I still haven’t really figure out on how to maneuver myself in Stumble upon. Maybe one day you can come up with an e-book or something.
