Why you now have to pay to get into DMOZ

Corruption at DMOZ

A lot of regular, normal, everyday, Mom and Pop websites have virtually no chance of getting into Googles directory. This is important as Google may use this information in the directory in it’s results page.

Although those in the know become DMOZ editors simply to improve their own websites. Whilst others are forced by the editor to pay a bribe to be let into the hallowed halls of the DMOZ directory.

The above link is to a blog about corruption at DMOZ by a current editor.

Shocking stuff indeed.
